The Visual Art Department is looking for applications from qualified students to work in the labs/ studios for the Spring 2018 semester.

All studios will be closed from Tuesday, November 21 until Sunday, November 27. During this time there will not be lab monitors present in the studios and no students will be permitted to work outside of class time.

The Visual Art Department will be accepting submissions from interested juniors for the 2018 Yale Norfolk Summer Program.

Please join us for our Annual Halloween Social and Costume Contest! We'll have a photobooth for spooky pictures, pizza and candy, arts and crafts, commemorative buttons and a costume contest. Grand prize winner will receive a $20 gift certificate to the RISD:store, plus lots of other prizes and goodies!

Join the Brown Arts Initiative and the Jonathan M. Nelson Center for Entrepreneurship for a panel discussion exploring the inception and evolution of sound ideas and the podcasting industry and the potential for sound and podcasts to act as an avenue to launch initiatives, careers and businesses.

Nick Cave is an artist, educator and dancer whose work involves sculpture, installation, video, sound and performance.

here has been some confusion regarding the new VA Concentration requirements and who they apply to. If you are a first year student or sophomore (Class of 2020 and 2021) you are under the "new" rules.

Last Friday, students and faculty from the University and the Rhode Island School of Design gathered in the List Art Center's David Winton Bell Gallery for the opening reception of Richard Fishman's exhibition, "What Remains." Fishman, who has crafted inventively disruptive pieces since the '60s, is renowned for his interdisciplinary works that juxtapose natural and synthetic materials to create striking sculpture installations.

The VA Lending Library is open daily from 1-3pm. Equipment is available for a 7-day checkout period. Equipment available includes digital cameras, video cameras, tripods, projectors, sound recorders, microphones, etc

On the night of September 11, 2001, artists Paul Myoda and Julian LaVerdiere watched from Brooklyn as an ashy and gaseous cloud formed over the remnants of the World Trade Center. The lights that illuminated Ground Zero during rescue efforts set this plume of smoke aglow, and through it, both men felt they could still see the buildings.
