From the Museum of Modern Art: In this tutorial, learn how to make collage like artists Romare Bearden, Hannah Höch, and others. Artist Helina Metaferia demonstrates various techniques, including how to source imagery, cutting, composition, pasting, and finishing.
We are pleased to announce that Becci Davis has accepted the position of Lecturer in Visual Art, effective July 1st, 2022. They will join the full-time Faculty in the Department of Visual Art. Becci will be responsible for overseeing the Foundations Program, as well as teaching VISA0100 and other courses.
The summer is the perfect time to explore the rich cultural offerings of Providence and the wider region – from the RISD Museum to DIY spaces, MIT’s Poetic Justice Project and the many festivals in Massachusetts.
Studio Clean-out: All personal items and projects need to be removed by these deadlines. Students may not store items in classrooms or studio past this deadline or over the summer. *Honors students have until May 26th to clean out their studios.
Rising Seniors Show: As rising senior VA concentrators, you'll have the chance to show your work alongside other soon-to-be-seniors. The exhibition runs from June 1 - September 15.
The Department of Visual Art hosts dozens of student-centered events and gallery exhibitions each semester. We also host 3-4 Visiting Artist each semester to give lectures open to the public.
The Department of Visual Art presents students with many opportunities to meet professional artists and expand the breadth of their learning across disciplines. Our Visiting Artist Program brings nationally and internationally acclaimed artists to campus to give lectures and critiques.
