From the Museum of Modern Art: In this tutorial, learn how to make collage like artists Romare Bearden, Hannah Höch, and others. Artist Helina Metaferia demonstrates various techniques, including how to source imagery, cutting, composition, pasting, and finishing.
We are pleased to announce that Becci Davis has accepted the position of Lecturer in Visual Art, effective July 1st, 2022. They will join the full-time Faculty in the Department of Visual Art. Becci will be responsible for overseeing the Foundations Program, as well as teaching VISA0100 and other courses.

Rising Seniors Show: As rising senior VA concentrators, you'll have the chance to show your work alongside other soon-to-be-seniors. The exhibition runs from June 1 - September 15.
The deadline to apply to be considered for the 2022-2023 Honors program in Visual Art is Tuesday, April 26th. The Department of Visual Art welcomes Junior Visual Art Concentrators to apply to the Honors Program for the 2022-2023 academic year.
The Studio Safety Coordinator oversees the student use of the sculpture studio, which includes: metal shop, wood shop, CNC router, and student work stations. Ensure adherence to University safety protocols and help to maintain a clean, well-organized shop environment with fully functioning equipment.
BAI (Brown Arts Institute) is excited to begin bringing artists to campus in the coming years — and they would love to introduce them to you! When artists visit, they typically arrange lunches, tours, and other small group activities to welcome them to campus and connect them with students in the Brown community.
Ghost of a Dream is the collaborative project of Lauren Was and Adam Eckstrom. They make work about people’s hopes and dreams out of the ephemera created trying to attain those aspirations. They began working together in 2007 shortly after getting married and this collaboration has been their full-time practice ever since.

Kambui Olujimi was born and raised in Bedford-Stuyvesant Brooklyn and received his MFA from Columbia University in New York City. Olujimi’s work challenges established modes of thinking that commonly function as “inevitabilities.” This pursuit takes shape through interdisciplinary bodies of work spanning sculpture,
Tauba Auerbach is an artist and publisher working in New York. A life-long student of math and physics, their work contends with structure and connectivity on the microscopic to the universal scale. Auerbach often invents tools and techniques for inducing material behaviors, building on crafts in many disciplines. The artist’s hand is recognizable in work across painting, weaving, glass sculpture, photography, video, typography and musical instrument design.
Students currently enrolled in VISA courses can check out equipment to complete their coursework. Equipment Checkout is located in room 515, and is open from 1-3pm Monday-Friday.
Open to all currently enrolled VISA students. Space is limited to 18 students. Sessions are held from 8pm-10pm on Wednesdays starting on February 23rd in room 225.
The 42nd Annual Juried Student Exhibition is held in the spring semester of each year. The exhibition dates for 2022 are March 3rd to March 23rd. Students from any concentration are encouraged to submit their work in a variety of media and will receive assistance with the installation and publicity of the exhibition

The Department of Visual Art is hosting a nude figure model drawing session at the List Art Building. This opportunity is open to all currently enrolled VISA students. From 8pm-10pm on every other Wednesday beginning Wed. Oct 6 until Wed. Nov 17, students will have the opportunity to join a group of peers for an evening of figure drawing. Space is limited.
